Women who have been abused or found themselves in desperate situations often need a soft and safe place to fall, a place to belong and to become all that God intended them to. At the birth of the ministry, our first outreach was to women who had suffered physical and emotional abuse and who needed more than a hand-out. They needed to find people who cared, who would not abandon them, who would love them as Christ loves the church.

The VWIM Shelter Ministry demonstrates God’s love to the women, and children who reside in temporary housing shelters. The care and compassion shown by and through ministry continues even after these women are healed and restored. This has been a life transforming ministry through which so many lives have been touched by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have always been careful not to stray from the VWIM motto of “PEOPLE TOUCHING PEOPLE”

Every year we host the annual Christmas dinner for the women and children at the shelter We count it a joy to serve these precious ladies and their children and we are so blessed to see the happiness on their faces.

We provide a regular Sunday morning pick up service, which enables the women to attend church regularly with their children. Through this ministry, strong bonds and friendships have been forged with the members of the church Several of the women and their families have become active members of the congregation. We have seen many former residents of the shelter taking their place back in the community, some going on to college and university, getting jobs, owning their own homes and becoming excellent role models for their children.
